In you final draft be sure to give your asset allocation (percentage of stocks, bonds, and cash you would use to set up your retirement plan if you were to set it up now. You also need to include estate planning in your final draft. Please do a TVM calculation in your final draft to project how much money you can accumulate at retirement. A few notes...Any personal financial plan should start with a realistic estimation of the life expectancy of the individual. Survivorship needs should be considered for surviving dependents. How the individual wants to live in the golden years of retirement as well as when and how the individual's assets will be disposed of during retirement and after death should be included. No plan would be complete without some allowances for unforeseen contingencies such as accidents, illness, premature death, and/or job loss. Income sources, streams, and reliability must be evaluated for the long-term. How debt will be acquired and more importantly how debt will be retired (i.e. repaid) must also be examined. What income streams will be used to retire the debt? Personal assets such as cars, houses, clothing, jewelry, and investments need to be planned for both acquisition and disposition. Sources of emergency funds must be identified and allocated against unforeseen events. A comprehensive investment plan must be drawn up that can provide a source of current and future income. Retirement plans must take into consideration funding of the retirement period, lifestyle changes, and long-term care needs. A comprehensive estate plan must be formulated to allow the orderly transfer of assets to heirs. Create a comprehensive financial plan including life expectancy and survivorship planning.
