For this assignment, identify a real or fictitious nonprofit organization that interests you, or one with which you are active professionally, and review their Web site.

Specifically, identify a nonprofit that provides their mission and vision statement on their Web site. If you choose to identify a nonprofit that does not have a Web site, but has a mission and vision statement, that is acceptable.

If you are creating a fictitious nonprofit, develop a mission and vision statement for the fictitious nonprofit. Keep in mind, the nonprofit organization that you identify will be incorporated into units and assignments throughout this course.

Additionally, you will analyze the impact of your nonprofit organization’s mission, vision, and governance, and how leadership is essential to these statements and governance.

Nonprofit Organizations and Board Term Limit

Objective:
To demonstrates whether board term limits are an influential factor in creating more engaged and active governing boards or whether a more key component is the existence of a board development committee (sometimes called “governance committee) that actively oversees the management of the board.
Nonprofit organizations should have board term limit policy or not.

Issue:
There are two schools of thought regarding board term limits. One school argues that board term limits are a “must” since they allow boards to get rid of “dead wood” and also to bring on new life. The other school of thought is argues that it is not term limits that make a strong board.

Outcome:
Create a project around this and for that randomly select an equal number of organizations with and without term limits but would also factor in which organizations had strong board development oversight.

Outline/Format:
Summarize and categorize major arguments of the articles uploaded, discuss the definitions, advantages, disadvantages, agreements, disagreements, controversial issues in these researches/articles and provide your own synthesis and reflection on these researches/articles.
