Title: full day kindergarten versus half day kindergarten reading achievement scores

Total Pages: 11 Words: 2805 Bibliography: 0 Citation Style: MLA Document Type: Research Paper

Essay Instructions: This is a quantitative research paper. The purpose of this study is to compare reading performance, as reflected on standardized achievement test scores, of students who attended full-day kindergarten versus half day kindergarten. The hypothesis should be stated as the following: "it is hypothesized that the students who attended full-day kindergarten scored higher in reading achievement than those who attended half day kindergarten". There must be thirty subjects in each group. Thirty subjects in the half-day kindergarten program and thirty subjects in the full-day kindergarten programs. Subjects should be listed in each group as subject #1, subject #2, etc, etc. The subjects should come from two schools in the School District of Philadelphia. One group (30) of students coming from a full-day kindergarten program and the other group (30) coming from a half day program. The instrument used should be the standardized reading achievement test given at the end of the year (posttest-only). The experimental design should be recorded on a T-test (causal-comparative) comparing the two groups (ex post facto). Please include this T-test in the paper along with a statistical analysis. The paper must be written in the past tense with no first person references. The format of the paper should include the following (in this order): Table of Contents; an abstract (one paragraph); a Problem Statement which includes a brief background of the specific topic and the purpose of the study (to compare reading performance, as reflected on standardized achievements tests of students who attended full-day kindergarten programs versus half-day kindergarten programs); a Review of the Literature (should be strong and at least 3 pages); Statement of the Hypothesis (it is hypothesized that the students who attended full-day kindergarten scored higher in reading achievement than those who attended half-day kindergarten) -- the hypothesis should include another statement (approximately one paragraph long not one sentence); the Methodology (key part of paper) should accurately and succinctly communicate to the reader the nature of the participants in the study, including the method of selection, a short description of the setting; data collection methods; the nature of the measures used (describe the measurement tool), the research design (ex post facto); safeguards taken and confidentiality issues (did not use names of student), and data analysis(statistical analysis). Please include a table showing Means, Standard Deviation and T-tests for the groups followed by an explanation of the table. Finally a section on Interpretations should be included. Discuss the interpretation of the data and also discuss the possible variables amongst the two groups. For examples, did the children attend pre-school, did the children come from single-parent homes, and other variables that may affect inner-city children. Please identify the independent and dependent variables in the paper. I'm not exactly sure if I have explained the requirements of this paper clearly enough. The scores need to come from the standardized test given at the School District of Philadelphia. As long as the paper has the required sections that I have described to you it should be fine. Please use APA style and appropriate citations throughout the paper. E-mail me if you have any issues or questions. kristin.burns@us.army.mil
Thank you so much!! The paper should be 11 pages including the table of contents but excluding the bibliography
