One of the most interesting parts of this effort is finding things in the field â€" viewing various activities to gain insight into how information systems power our organizations now and in the future. This activity, Field Trips, is one quarter of the effort in this course and, as such, deserves some focused effort. This is the focuser for that effort.
The requirement is achieved by a report on your field trip â€" this is worth twenty-five points and helps reify the real world component of this exploration. Please cover the following items in your report and submit it electronically, whether in this word document or in the body of an e-mail message. The report can be on a trip you took with the class or on a virtual field experience you did on your own.
We are working on some group trips to the field such as the Computer History Museum that you will enjoy. For points (25) from these experiences, the requirement is the same â€" an approximately one- page discussion, e-mailed to me, which includes the following (each worth 5 points):
1. Description of the Event â€" What, where, when.
2. Why - How it fit into your interests
3. What you learned
4. How does it apply to item 2 - how does it help you understand your focus. 5. Embellished with Illustrations, pictures, etc.
To earn the points for the Field trip part of this course, complete four reports and send them to me.
Not all of you will be able to attend the group events. Fortunately there are other ways to accomplish this activity. These are (2) take a trip on your own, or (3) do a virtual field trip. This third option you can do in the comfort of your own home at almost any hour of the day or night. We will discuss and show you ways to accomplish these virtual field trips.
Enjoy this activity and get the reports to me electronically before the end of the term.

Customer currently has need to call International partners on
frequent basis.

Customer has currently has DSL connection with 384K up and 1 meg down.

Customer only has analog phones with CAT 3 as existing infrastructure.

needs. They lack flexibility in home user connections and want to save

I need you to write me a research paper about "Voice-over-IP (VoIP) Performance Testing Tools". Few weeks ago I ordered the proposal for the same topic. I will upload the proposal to the customer control panel once I finish placing the order. Here are the instructions for the research paper.

- Your report should demonstrate that you have read and understood considerable additional materials beyond what has been covered in class. The materials should be presented from both a technical and a business viewpoint. At least 7 sources must be consulted outside of the regular course materials

-Specific requirements of the Research Papers:
1) You are welcome to include figures, graphs, illustrations, etc. in your paper, but these do not count towards the required page count ( at least 9 pages)

2) The paper must include a Reference List at the end listing all books, articles and web sites you read to research the topic.

3) Spell-check your paper. I will deduct points for misspelled words.

4) The following grading criteria will be used for this paper:
The paper must show me that you clearly understand the material. If you include a long quotation or a list of technical specifications, it is worthless unless you follow up with a paragraph explaining, in your own words, why this is important and pertinent to your topic. Your paper should add value to the materials you’ve read. You can add value by combining materials from several sources or by explaining some information from a different viewpoint than that of the original author. Just repeating what the original material said is not worth as much (and is plagiarism if you repeat it unchanged without quotes). Your paper must go beyond the material covered in class. If you just repeat back information we have already covered in class, this is not worth much. Your paper should include a clear Introduction section describing what you will discuss in the paper and a clear Conclusion section at the end summarizing the paper.

Essay Instructions: I have no specific style requirements that have not already been addressed. I do need to point out that the paper needs to be technical in nature and examine at least some of the protocols and details of the RFC governing VOIP.
