This is an argumentative (as opposed to explainatory) essay where I have to present my views and address the opposing views as well. There should be an introduction, three body paragraphs to support my arguments, and a conclusion paragraph. Whole essay is about 550 words.

Title: Should scientists be Playing God

Total Pages: 1 Words: 308 Bibliography: 0 Citation Style: APA Document Type: Essay

Essay Instructions: Discuss if science should be able to "play god".

Where/when possible, make references to Charlie from Flowers From Algernon.
Read a quick summary here:
http://www.sparknotes.com/lit/algernon/summary.html

Quick Summary:
Charlie had an experimental surgery preformed on him where he went from being developmentally delayed to incredibly intelligent (genius). In becoming so smart so quickly, he realized that the people who he used to think were his friends were just using him as someone to make fun of, and he realizes he has no real friends. He always wanted to be smart - but perhaps he couldn't have forseen so many challenges. He also has many emotional difficulties a person without this surgery wouldn't have (e.g. relationships with girls, he struggled to make).

It needs to be made clear through this paper that God empowers scientists to do what they do, and we are free to do as we wish. By attempting to further each other, we are doing what he would want us to do.

Excerpt From Essay:

Essay Instructions: "I heard a funny one two weeks ago that might interest you. Seems one of our R&D people went to a new products management seminar and heard about a thing called the protocol. They told him it was the device whereby the overall manager of new products communicated to R&D exactly what was wanted from the technical group. R&D even had to 'sign on the dotted line,' swearing that they thought it could be done. He was really steamed-said no one could tell R&D what they should come up with, not in advance anyway. And R&D is responsible only to top management, not new products managers, so they don't have to promise anything. He said he considered that concept the most stifling single action imaginable. How would you answer that scientist, or would you?"
