Abstract
Background: Catering industry among 3 industries (construction, manufacturing, mining and quarrying, utilities, transport and servicing) is highest occupational accidents according to 2010 occupational safety and health statistics bulletin of Labour Department of HKSAR. Companies in catering industry have tried to run safety measures in order to minimize numbers of occupational accidents occurred in workplaces. However, numbers of occupational accidents probably remain or are no obvious change even some of safety measures implemented and resources spent.
Objective: The objective of study looks for causal factors of occupational accidences in catering companies and approaches or methods of successful overseas cases in catering companies improving the accidences.
Methodology: The study adopts qualitative approaches included review of journal articles and overseas cases. The chosen cases provide a closer look at how different countries/cities with different development trajectories, in accordance with their representativeness in showcasing occupational accident improvements.
Analysis: it consists 2 interrelated parts. The 1 st part counts causal factors of occupational accidences from the selected journal articles. The 2 nd part analyses the different approaches and methods adopted by different countries/cities to eliminate mentioned causal factors.
Findings: it sums up / consolidated common causal factors of occupational accidences from the selected journal articles, and the common approaches as well as methods adopted by different countries/cities to eliminate occupational accidences in catering industry.
