You can write several paragraphs in each section, but 1 and 4 sections shouldn't be over the half of a paper.

Essay Instructions: This is an I-Search Paper

Must have an excellent in overall quality. Paper should clearly be an I-Seach paper rather than a research paper in that they include personal reflections, realizations, and explorations concerning a central question of importance to the writer. (Which the questions is: "To what extent should billingual education be offered in public schools?) In these papers, the writer is telling a story of their search, using transitions and effective organization. Likewise, the content and research are in-depth, reflecting the use of at least 5 sources. Paper must be characterized by a strong voice and sophisticated language.


1. Why I chose the subject/what I already know.
2. The story of my search
3. What I learned from research/research questions answered.
4. Reflect upon what you learned or did not learn.

Essay Instructions: For this paper, look closely at a single passage from Frankenstein. You don't need to refer to anything outside the scope of the sentence(s) you choose. Depth and clarity is more important here than breadth or comprehensiveness. However, if you want to draw connections between two or more passages, feel free, but don't end up saying too little about too many things. In general, I find the shorter the passage you choose, the more careful your analysis will be. And don't worry about using your analysis to make more far-reaching remarks about the novel as a whole (that's what the next paper will be for).

While I would ask that you revise (so your language is as clear as possible), this is not a formal essay, so don't worry about having an introductory paragraph, thesis statement, etc. Instead, dive right in and analyze. Leave no stones unturned. Ask questions. Answer questions. Consider the various definitions of words. Go out on a limb. Have fun. Shoot for about 500 words, but don't get too caught up on the length of your work. Choose a passage and write until you feel like you've said all there is to be said about it.

The astonishment which I had at first experienced on this discovery soon gave place to delight and rapture. After so much time spent in painful labour, to arrive at once at the summit of my desires was the most gratifying consummation of my toils. But this discovery was so great and overwhelming that all the steps by which I had been progressively led to it were obliterated, and I beheld only the result. What had been the study and desire of the wisest men since the creation of the world was now within my grasp. Not that, like a magic scene, it all opened upon me at once: the information I had obtained was of a nature rather to direct my endeavours so soon as I should point them towards the object of my search than to exhibit that object already accomplished. Essay Instructions: This paper requires an abstract, then:
I. Introduction (usetitle of project, brief statement of the project, brief explanation of why it is important to conduct your project
II. Review of the Literature-in depth examination of relevant literature, for research based projects, state the research question, issues tobe explored, and any hypotheses you may have.
III. Proposed Project Method-general project design, project evaluation/data analysis. If data is collected:indicate the type of data and proposed method of data analysis.
IV. Findings or Project Evaluation-present findings and results of your project. My study is qualitative in design, present a description and evaluation of your observations and experiences.
V. Conclusions and Discussion-discuss in depth your findings, experiences and or activities. This means that you need to explain your results, provide possible options for explaining your findings, suggest possible implications and consequences of your findings. What do your findings (or non-findings) mean? What would you improve (or do differently) in future projects or research? Also include a paragraph on how this professional project has impacted you personally and professionally, ie insights you've gained over the course of the project.


(I am a 2 tour combat veteran of Iraq, 2003-2004, Operation Iraqi Freedom, 2004-2005 Abu Ghraib prison; after the scandal.) I was combat medic who has a diagnosis of PTSD and my prevalent symptoms are hypervigilance, nightmares, irritability, and work related difficulties.) My original research pursuit was a treatment modality that has stood the test of time. My search for a "magic bullet" cure has made me realize that there is no cure, just symptom management. My own treatment has been 8 wks of a psycho-ed symptom management class and 12 weeks of CPT. I have no experience as of yet with EMDR.
