Song lyrics:
In My Daughter's Eyes
In my daughter's eyes, I am a hero.
I am strong an' wise,
And I know no fear.
But the truth is plain to see:
She was sent to rescue me,
I see who I wanna be, in my daughter's eyes.
In my daughter's eyes, everyone is equal,
Darkness turns to light,
And the world is at peace.
This miracle God gave to me,
Gives me strength when I am weak.
I find reason to believe, in my daughter's eyes.
An' when she wraps her hand around my finger,
Oh, it puts a smile in my heart.
Everything becomes a little clearer.
I realise what life is all about.
It's hangin' on when your heart has had enough;
It's givin' more when you feel like givin' up.
I've seen the light: it's in my daughter's eyes.
In my daughter's eyes, I can see the future.
A reflection of who I am,
An' what will be.
An' though she'll grow an', some day, leave:
Maybe raise a family,
When I'm gone, I hope you'll see,
How happy she made me,
For I'll be there, in my daughter's eyes.
Personal analogy:
In My Daughter?s Eyes
Growing up I always dreamed of getting married and having kids. After my senior year in high school I met an amazing person and we had this connection from the get go. We were inseparable, we talked on the phone all the time; day in and day out we either talked or was with each other. That was November 2006. In February of 2007 we found out that in just seven and a half months we were going to be blessed with our first born. Once we figured out that it was going to be a girl I was so blessed to be able to be a mom to a little girl, to be able to teach her how to be a girl, dress her up, everything that a mom should do with their little girls. I want to be there for her for any reason she may need me, to be her hero, to have no fear, to watch her grow and eventually watch her raise her own children and be all she can be.
The song In My Daughters Eyes there are several lines I relate to. My kids are my world and they were ?sent to rescue me?, and ?I see who I want to be, in my daughter?s eyes?. I want to be the person they look up too, have faith in and to just be there when they fall. I myself didn?t have much of a mother growing up I just had my grandma, we had more of a mother daughter relationship then my mom and I ever had. My grandma was my ?hero? and ?was strong and wise?. My grandma taught me a lot of things on how to be a good mother. So I fight every day to make sure I do what I can do to be my daughters ?Hero?.
I try to teach my daughters that everyone is equal, and that they should always try to help someone in need. There is other lines of the song that says ?darkness turns to light?, that is very true. If I am having a bad day or just kind of down when I make it home to my girls they seem to light up my day. There?s nothing like coming home in a pissed off mood to see two beautiful little girls running too you saying ?Mommy your home, yay??! The other is ?gives me strength when I am weak? which is another very true line. If I am sick I am still going just because I know that I have to provide for my girls. Being a parent you really don?t have time to be weak cause you need to stay strong for you kids and be their light to light their path in the right direction.
?When she wraps her hand around my finger, Oh, it puts a smile in my heart?, all I can do is melt. There is never anything so precious than having your little girls holding your fingers; it really shows that they need you more than you know. Also that they know you are there to help. That?s all I care about is making sure they know that I am here at any time to help lead them in the right direction, and provide safety. It will and does make me proud to say I have a wonderful husband and two beautiful little girls, which I have been there for since I found out I was pregnant. I have been caring for these two girls since they were just eight weeks in the womb, and every day and night since they have been born. I really love this song even more since I have had kids.
In the future I know that my girls will have their own meaning of the song even if they have never listened to it but this song will always be in my heart for them. ?An? though she?ll grow an?, someday, leave: Maybe raise a family, when I?m gone, I hope you?ll see, how happy she made me, for ill be there, in my daughter?s eyes?. This is the last line of the song and it?s so powerful to me, I hope that I?m here long enough to see them succeed and grow in to wonderful young ladies and have a great family just like I have had with them and my family. Hope they realize they will have similar feelings about their children and hope for the best for them.
All in all this song explains my love for my girls and that I hope that I am all these things ?In My Daughter?s Eyes?, and hope and pray one day they will be the same in their children?s eyes, when and if they are as blessed as I am to receive such great blessings from god. My only request for my girls are that they grow up and succeed more than I did, just as my mom did with my grandma and I have from my mom. I hope we can keep the chain going and improving our success further than the last.
