Improving the quality of health care delivery and patient safety continues to be a political concern and has been at the heart of reform issues for many years. The American Nurses Association (ANA) has increased awareness of health care quality and safety issues, as well as pushing for health care reforms throughout the years. The documents featured in the ANA websites listed in this week?s resources reflect many of the current issues surrounding quality and safety in the health care industry. Review the resources presented this week, particularly the ANA resources and the Federal Register, and reflect on your own practice. Consider the quality and safety issues you encounter at your organization. Then, locate a current quality and/or safety issue in health care, and reflect on how this issue could, or has, affected health care delivery. Write a 3- to 5-page paper including the following:

Identify the quality and/or safety issue.


Summarize the impact that this issue has on health care delivery.


Identify quality improvement strategies to address the identified issue.


Develop a plan to implement quality improvement strategies, including:
targeted audience;

all relevant stakeholders;

needed resources; and

processes for implementation.

Current Issues Paper - The purpose of this is to familiarize the student with the use of technology in nursing and with issues relevant to nursing and health care.

Topic

You are to pick one current issue in health care or nursing that is of particular interest to yourself. Once you have decided on an issue you are going to research the topic from every possible angle using the library data bases, internet, journals, books, etc.
