THERE ARE TWO COMPONENTS TO THE ESSAY:
1) Compare and contrast the origins and application of Confucianism in CHINA and two (2) other East Asian cultures. (KOREA AND JAPAN) This will demonstrate a mastery of the material in Richey’s Confucius in East Asia. In both aspects, but particularly in your discussion of the application of Confucianism, you will need to make choices. What do you see as the most significant application and how do you relate this in the three cultures. (CHINA, KOREA, JAPAN)

2) In the second part of the essay you will analyze one or two specific teachings of Confucianism ( Filial piety, Humaneness, Ritual) analyze how you see them being expressed in Last Train Home Documentary and/or the Chunhyang Film. If you use one film be sure your analysis is weighty enough; if you use two films use the same Confucian teachings to be able to compare and contrast and put the two films into conversation with each other.
IMPORTANT:
The essay should be written in academic format with interesting title, citations of all evidence, page
numbers, and bibliography. PROPER MLA FORMAT (very important)

Essay Instructions: Combining the principles of Confucianism, Neo-Confucianism and the Chinese movie "Ju Dou," write an essay about your understanding of Confucianism and their social and moral impact upon people in China''s society.

-Please aviod retelling the plot of the movie
-Please use common present tense while discussing the texts of the movie
-Please make an explicit thesis statement in the introduction paragraph

The movie is called "Ju Dou." 1990. Directed by Zhang Yimou.
You can either watch the movie or search for reviews and summaries on the internet.

Essay Instructions: pls seperate the answers to each question there is 5 questions and I need approximately 750 words per each question.
The first question is Describe the unique characteristics of Chinese worldviews and discuss the significance or the implications of these chracteristics in relation to the worldviews of other tradions such as the Jewish, the Christian or the modern scientific worldviews.
the scond question is, Is confucianism a form of Humanism? Explain the unique aspects of "Confucian humanism" and how this form of humanism is different from "secular humanism". Discuss also whether COnfucianism is a form of religion. Provide the reasons for your arguments for pro or con on this issue.

the third question is Explain the "one thread" that runs through the teachings of Confucius. Quote the passages containing the idea of "one thread" from the Analects and discuss how this one thread can be an essential way to understand the confucian teachings. You may also discuss this teaching in relation to a similar teaching of other traditions.
the fourth question is, Discuss the Confucian notion of "uprightness"(chih/ji). Quote the passages containning the word "uprightness" and explain the meaing of the world in light of other religious traditions or philosophical theories to find the unique approach to idea of justice.

The fifth and last question is "Humanity"(Jen/ren) and "propriety" (li) are considered two pillars of confucian teachings. Explain the meaning of each concept and discuss the interaction between these two ideas in order to explicate the process of the Confucian self-cultivation.

Essay Instructions: This paper is supposed to be a specific discussion of the differences between the two philosophy's: Confucianism and Daoism. It should have most of its information based on the differences between the two. It should include who founded the religions, when they were popular, what made people interested in the religions and how these religions affected people's lives.
