Title: Communication and Broadcasting

Total Pages: 16 Words: 5070 Works Cited: 10 Citation Style: APA Document Type: Essay

Essay Instructions: Below is what I wrote as my proposal to my professor, so this should work as an outline as to what I am looking for. The paper needs to be 15 to 20 pages long, so I'm aiming for 16 pages. It needs to have 10 sources and in MLA format. I have also included under the proposal some different websites that can be used for research and sources for the paper. Not all the sources I include need to be used, however I think they maybe helpful. ONe of the broadcasters I think that would be good to use when discussing networks pushing personalities is Andersen Cooper, because CNN really did a lot of different ad campaigns with him (commercials and billboards).

Proposal: The research study I would like to perform for my independent study relates to both communications and television broadcasting. I would like to look at the problems that exist for television networks, such as CNN, ABC, and NBC, in increasing the interests and viewers of a particular target demographic for news programs. I would look in depth at the different solutions networks are using to increase ratings within a target demographic, such as pushing personalities, ad campaigns, and increased advertising for news programs. I will also make suggestions from a communication and public relations stand point that would be beneficial in marketing to a certain target demographic. The target demographic I will be examining will be between the ages of 18-34, which is younger than news’ traditional demographic of 25-54.
I plan to look at certain news programs among the different networks and view their ratings in the past versus their ratings more recently for the target demographics being examined. This will help me in determining if the ratings and viewers have increased or decreased. I will look at some of the concerns the networks maybe faced with, such as the target demographic not watching news programs as often as other demographics. I will also view the personalities that many of the networks are now pushing and look at whether the viewers are increasing or decreasing after the networks have the pushed the personalities. Suggestions will also be made that could help to improve the ad campaigns or the methods used to increase viewers watching news programs.
I plan to obtain this research through many of the network’s websites and other websites that are related to news programs and that disclose television ratings and number of viewers watching particular news programs. I will utilize my knowledge in public relations to make suggestions about the marketing and advertising strategies and to increase the number of viewers within the targeted demographic watching news programs.

Title: Rhetorical Analysis of the article I m sending

Total Pages: 4 Words: 975 Bibliography: 2 Citation Style: MLA Document Type: Research Paper

Essay Instructions: The paper has to be a rhetorical analysis of the source I'm providing, "Cross-media response to digital manipulation of still and moving images" by George Albert Gladney and Matthew C. Ehrlich from the Journal of Broadcasting & Electronic Media; Fall96, Vol.40 Issue 4, p428.

No first person at all here please, it's a rhetorical analysis on the quality of the paper/writing/material. When source material is used, please use the MLA format and ICE method-introduce, cite, explain when dealing with sources. If there is any way to properly use the words Ethos, Logos and Pathos in the essay once each (pick only two out of the three), that'd be a huge plus.
There are faxes for this order.
