For this project, I choose the following option:

1. Prose to Prose: Read a literary piece from author Alice Walker. Write a detailed comparison of the two literary pieces, using specific details from each. This paper should be 1,000-1,500 words at least with proper use of quotations and citations. You may decide to limit your focus to character, plot, setting, symbolism, conflict, point of view, or theme. For example, you may choose Alice Walker. We have read ?Everyday Use.? So, you would select another of Alice Walker?s repertoire that best suits your project?s direction.

Essay Instructions: This paper is an essay. The student will investigate the author Alice Walker. She is most famous for "The Color Purple" but this work is NOT to be used. Only her short stories or poems may be used. Three of the author's works are to be looked at and then read critical analyses of those works to see how the works related to a suggested theme. The student should include a small amount of author information, primarily as the author's life shows the theme of that author. So basically 3 works, each work critiqued by three sources are to be used. The same source can critique each of the three works as long as there are three different sources per work.

Below is an outline of how the paper is to be constructed.

1. Introductory paragrahg 7-9 sentences long, which includes an interesting beginning (motivator), transitional sentence (content) and a thesis statement with three-point blueprint.
