This paper is to analyze the book "We Need to Talk About Kevin" from on or two theories/concepts of motherhood. The paper must be proven by theory and structured as an arguement. I would like to examine this book from the perspective of "the institution of motherhood" and/or ""Bad Mothering". The main authors for these two perspectives are Adrienne Rich
and Molly Ladd-Taylor respectively. If "the institution of motherhood" is used, the text "Of Women Born" by Adrienne Rich
MUST be used. This book is available from google scholar for free if you type in "institution of motherhood" in the search bar. For "Bad Mothering", google scholar has some books that Molly Ladd-Taylor has co-written available for free as well. Other texts can be used, but these two authors must be mentioned for their respective categories.
I have not given a great deal of direction for the paper itself, but I would like it to mention the relationship between Eva and her son Kevin, and possibly how she was to one who gave up her high paying job as a CEO and not her freelance writer husband, despite the large income difference betwen them. If you have any questions, or feel that you would like more directions or input from me in developing the argument, please feel free to message me.
