Essay Instructions: This is a research paper for my managerial economics class. The topic is elasticity of price. The professor wants us to have an example of a product from Microsoft where the price is elastic. It can be compared to products sold by it's competitors. The essay must be in APA format with at least 5 sources. The argument made must be supported by expert opinions and not personal opinion. He does not want a definition of price elasticity. The only product I can think of is the xbox 360, but if that doesn't work that's fine.

The Paper.

This paper requires you to demonstrate your ability to write in the thesis, anti-thesis, synthesis mode. You may choose any thesis you want, then identify an anti-thesis, and create a synthesis. You should have research for all three parts of the paper, and it should be clear that the first two views do not belong to you, but are the views you intend to compromise. The paper succeeds or fails primarily in your ability to sell your synthesis.

Form

In your paper, you will open with an introduction that informs your reader of the topic, the opposing views you intend to discuss, and your compromise. Then, you will also offer your compromise view in the form of your thesis.

The first part of the body will then explain the position of the thesis.
The second part explains the anti-thesis.
The synthesis then draws upon elements of the first two views to offer a compromise view.

If you want a ballpark figure, the first two parts can account for 500 of the words, and the synthesis should then be the bulk of the paper, roughly 1000 words.
