Essay Instructions: After a careful reading of Ralph Waldo Emerson's essay on "Self-Reliance" write critique oh his argument in which you agree with his ideas. Consider the effect of his argument not only on the individual but also on society.

2) When I was growing up, I was fascinated with a book, entitled "Where's Waldo". The objective of the book was to search through various scenes, for this character, Waldo. Waldo has very distinctive features. however the authors of the book, made the task a bit more difficult, but introducing other characters and objects that share similar features with Waldo.

As in the "Where's Waldo" example, in day to day life, we are constantly bombarded by visual information.

What role does attention play in this situation? How does attention help us filter out irrelevant information?
