Essay Instructions: Hello This is a short essay in which a discussion of hochman's ideas in relation to stowe's book is required.
I will provide Hochman's essay as one of the sources (the other one would be the Uncle Tom's book). If you want to add a third source on american realism that'd be good, too.
The idea is to exemplify Hochman's assertions with quotations from Beecher Stowe's text, and to state if you agree or not (please explain why) with the ideas discussed by Hochman.
Note: take into consideration the characteristics of realism, as well as the idea of the "Great American Novel".
Please follow this structure carefully:
1.Introduction: write about the importance of Uncle Tom's Cabin as a literary text, and state which one of the ideas that are discussed in Hochman's text you are going to exemplify. You may use Hochman's subtitles as a list of possible topics.
2.Body: The body must identify and comment on the following:
a. Analyze a couple of fragments from Uncle Tom's Cabin.
b. Look for examples within the fragments to support contradict and/or exemplify Hochman's assertions.
3.Conclusion: give a general opinion about Hochman's essay, and about Uncle Tom's Cabin as a literary text. Say what you think about the relations between literature, history and social issues.
There are faxes for this order.
