GUIDELINES TO THE ESSAY

1) Offer an introductory paragraph that briefly introduces the artwork (in papers you would underline or italicize titles of your subject, but for this site you will have to put titles in CAPS). If you are citing a piece of art or architecture, include in your first citation the date of production, and the artist. If you are writing about literature, include the author's full name.

2) Offer a statement--or question--that presents the main idea behind your post or question you hope to pursue in the introduction of your post. Briefly forecast the ideas you hope to discuss.

3) Develop your post with three or more points that contain evidence in support of your main idea or examine key aspects of your question. Please use paragraphs to denote units of thought. Each paragraph should be a coherent unit.

The body of your post should help us see the validity of your point of view.
