Main Text: Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Flim

Second Text- "Dawn" by Tim Wynne- Jones
"Recitatif" by Toni Morrison
"Bad Influnce" by Judith Ortiz Cofer
"dancer" by Vickie Sears

The above texts all deal, in some way or another, with the figure of a rebel, misfit, hero, or misanthrope; that is, there is someone who does not belong, either by choice or by force, in each story. Your task as a writer is to choose either Ethan Frome OR One flew over the Cuckoo's Next, and then select one of the second texts to write about alongside it.

FIRST, consider what defines the character who do not belong: do the texts deal with the rebel, the misfit, the hero, or the misanthrope? THEN develop a thesis that reveals how the two texts DEFINE that figures significance. What message about rebellion, ostracization, heroism, and/or misanthropy do these texts offer. What ARGUMENT about these values is each author making? And how can reading these two text TOGETHER help us understand those arguments?

please have at least 2 quotes from the main book and 2 quotes from the second text
