Title: The Iliad by Homer

Total Pages: 3 Words: 1105 References: 1 Citation Style: MLA Document Type: Essay

Essay Instructions: I need a three page essay that talks about what Hector represents symbolically in the Iliad, and how it is different from what Achilles represents. I need it to talk about how Hector embodies the family man and how he fights for his family's future and that of his people, while Achilles is the solitary warrior that both stays away from the battle and then fights only for himself, his own rage, glory and revenge. What good qualities of Achilles does Hector symbolize? What bad qualities of Hector does Achilles symbolize? How do they reflect eachother? Also, what does Hector's part of the story teach Achilles in the end? I need to use at least 3 quotes from the Iliad itself. The poem is the only source I need. If it's possible for the writer of the essay to use the Robert Fagles translation of the Iliad as the reference, that would be preferable, but if it's not easily accessible within the short time frame, he/she can use another translation.
