Instructions for Student Base College Essay Examples

Essay Instructions: For the DIBELS write-up start with an introduction of your student(don't use the real name).
Then tell what the test results were. For each test tell what the students score or scores were and then according to the DIBELS benchmarks discuss what the scores mean. For example for the Oral Reading Fluency Test you might say the student had scores of 34, 47 and 38 so the median score was 38. At the ____ grade level this score means the student is considered at risk, or is at high risk, or is at Benchmark.
You should make recommendations for instruction for this student based on your results. Does the student need to work on fluency, phonics instruction, etc. based on your results. Or if you found no skill deficit make recommendations for advancement of skills.
You should also include a reflection on the experience- are there things you'd do differently next time. What did you learn. Was it easy or difficult to administer- what did you learn, etc.

Assessment Task 2:
Topic: Research Poster Presentation
Length: 5 PowerPoint Slides
Prepare a poster (no more than 5 slides) that includes the following:
1. Background detail of your research interests/question, your specialist field of study and/or ‘discourse community’.
2. Summary of strategies you have used to locate research articles relevant to your interests (databases used, key terms, strengths and weaknesses of search strategies, etc); including criteria for the selection and exclusion of articles.
3. Brief summary of two research articles from peer reviewed academic journals – and their relevance to your research interests.
4. Brief comparison of the content and style of the two papers.
The poster presentation will take place during the time your lecturers are visiting Hong Kong. The poster presentation will provide an opportunity to present and talk about the research you are locating and the issues that are emerging from your reading of the research literature. You will be expected to give a very brief overview talk of no more than 5 minutes about the work you have been researching.
The seminar will function as a mini-conference - your work will be displayed on the wall, classmates will be wandering by each poster, and you will have a chance to talk to those who read your poster.
Your poster needs to be about 1 x 1 metre with print of sufficient size for people to be able to read it comfortably from about 1.5 metres away. You are required to use Powerpoint as a way of generating the A4 pages that will form the basis of your poster. Diagrams and illustrations are often useful in summarising information. There will not be an opportunity for you to set up and use a Power Point demonstration during your talk.
You will need to summarise what you have done and present it in an attractive and eye-catching manner. Think about your audience and the fact that they may not know anything at all about your topic.
Your lecturer will provide feedback on the following:
a. The importance of the research focus is clearly explained and linked to questions appropriate for the purpose of reviewing existing research;
b. The strategies for locating and selecting articles are clearly articulated and justified;
c. The articles are summarised in a way which makes it possible to appreciate the key findings and the ways in which these are presented;
d. The summary and comparison help to answer the review questions.
As part of the task, students MUST provide some constructive criticism and suggestions to at least one fellow student based on the points above. This will be done at the seminar session.
