Essay Instructions: SPEECH ASSIGNMENT 2:
PODCAST
For your next speech assignment, you must create a
five-minute informative podcast for a website. A podcast is a
digital media file distributed over the Internet. The file can be
played back on a computer or an appropriate portable player.
Although you won?t actually be putting your file on a web-
site, you should prepare it as if you were going to do that.
Preparing, Recording, and Submitting
Your Speech
Use the following procedure to complete this assignment:
1. Search the Internet for a website on a topic that interests
you or on one with which you?re familiar.
2. Determine the topic for the podcast you?ll develop.
3. If necessary, gather information on your topic. If you
use outside sources, be sure to give them credit in your
speech.
4. Make a list of the main points you want to address.
5. Write your thesis statement.
6. Choose an organizational pattern, and then outline the
main points and subpoints of your speech. A speech can
be organized in many different ways. To ensure that the
audience can make the most sense of your speech, you
should choose from one of these four organizational
patterns:

Time sequence:
Ordering your speech chronologically

Narrative order:
Using a series of stories that contribute to making a point

Topical order:
Presenting your material in general
terms and then following that with more and more specific topics

Reasoning:
Using a logical approach or presenting
information in a format that says, ?If this, then that.?

7. Create a strong introduction and conclusion.
8. Prepare at least two presentational aids to use during your speech.

3.I am a full time student and work as full time registered nurse and working a lot extra hours to pay bills because husband has no job and I have five children ages 16, 14, 12. 10, and 5 yrs old.

We moved from Louisiana to here California but this did not affect my determination to finish my MSN and last June 2012 we moved from apartment to our new home in California, being busy for this house moving made me more double hardworks to complete my MSN. I got sick last Nov 2012 and the doctor require me to stop working for one month because of chest pain induced by stress level.

Essay Instructions: Speech objectives:
1. Choose a speech topic with an overall important theme that makes a point/has a moral/teaches a lesson that the listeners can apply and that can be developed by narrating a story. Specific Purpose and Thesis
2. Choose a story that supports and develops the theme.
3. Do research to find two types of information: 1) Find a source with information about the theme. 2) Find a quote from a quote website/book.
4. Create an outline to organize the ideas by using an established format.
5. Cite sources while speaking to establish your credibility and show you researched the topic.
6. Deliver a 3-4 minute narrative speech using the extemporaneous speech guidelines.

Essay Instructions: Speech Assignment: The Problem-Solution Speech
Topic: People not drinking enough water
The goal of this speech is to both convince the audience that there is a problem and persuade them to take action or change their beliefs about a solution to that problem. In other words, you are trying to convince your audience that something is a problem for them (it must be relevant to them) and that there is a solution they should believe in and act on. Thus you will have to keep in mind what the audience?s needs and interests are, since, for them, ?problems? will be relative to these; good speeches convince us that the problem is significant. The more concrete your action steps are (whether at the level of personal, institutional or government action), the better this speech will be. The overall organizational pattern of this speech is problem-solution. Beyond that, you have the usual choices. Remember that all requirements of organization and adaptation always apply.
No fewer than four different sources cited in the speech, with more citations required as appropriate. At least three of the citations must be scholarly sources and book.
