Essay Instructions: Students, who go to public high schools, are more likely to receive lower education and ultimately affect our society as a whole. On the other hand, students who go to private schools are more likely to receive better education because the teachers are more prepared and students have better areas to learn and play. Children tend to learn more playing because; they relate mental icons stimulating during play. If schools have more areas where children can play or have more classes with fewer students the way of learning would be better. Barack Obama said, “We have an obligation and a responsibility to be investing in our students and our schools. We must make sure that people who have the grades, the desire and the will, but not the money, can still get the best education possible.” The public education in the United States is not good. Only people in poverty attend to public schools. People that graduate from these schools don’t get a high-position job. These public schools are equivalent to America’s working class schools. As concerns the private schools, there is a big difference among them depending the amount of money the school cost. Not only do schools in America disempower some students, but in my personal experience in Guatemala, students also suffer the same or even greater social class disempowerment. The education system is divided into public education and private education. The government is the one funding public schools. There are big differences among the private schools. Most of the schools give the same content to students, but use different methods. There are schools that are a mixture of affluent professional schools and elite schools. The students on schools create many projects, some individually and some in groups. Students have to decide if they make homework or not. It is not mandatory in some classes. Students decide which chapters they need to learn each day. This is not the same in other schools. In public schools students are taught what the teacher wants. Teachers have the ultimate power and determine what is good or wrong. They don’t have the proper knowledge or preparation to educate. Sometimes they will teach something wrong. Teaching something wrong to low-class students will not help them. In the future they will stay in the same social class because most of what they know is wrong, or partially right. The jobs they get are low-payment jobs.When I reached the college or university level, I knew which student was in a subject just by knowing what school they attended. The school we attend plays a big role in our social status in Guatemala, I think it is because good schools are privatized, and everyone knows which school is the cheapest or more expensive. I only got together with other students that graduate from the same type of school that I did. I never saw a person of high or medium class getting together with a person of the low-class. Guatemala which is a third world country public schools don’t work because the level of education is very low compared to the ones that are private. Public schools sometimes do not have enough supplies to give children. Guatemalan people attitudes towards education depend of their social level and it is because people with low income prefer to have their children working to sustain their families. Only two percent of the population of Guatemala attends universities and only half of them graduate.
