Essay Instructions: My dissertation is founded on the idea that the governance improvement rate in Botswana has slowed down over the last decade (which I have supported earlier in the paper). The dissertation is looking to identify why, as well as analysing the future impact. I have identified HIV/AIDS as one of these factors affecting governance. I'm writing this for a degree in Business and Finance, so an economic perspective would be preferable. It does not need mathematical analysis, however, as most sources would be secondary and qualitative. The method is to resolve facts from existing studies that relate to the same topic. Governance, in this case, is defined as the the use of institutional resources to manage society's problems and affairs.

My idea is to divide it into social and economic factors, but not a must. The general point could be that the destruction of human capital is the main factor. I would also like to point out that it is a time bomb, which will have severe long-term effects.

Social factors could include:
- Stigmatisation -> Social exclusion

Economic
- Medical costs
- Loss of workforce due to premature deaths
- Loss of international accountability

Together, these factors would be linked together to show how they impact governance. The research used does not have to be Botswana-specific (very scarce, from what I've found), but definitely related to Africa.

The section is called "Empirical analysis and results" and I will be assessed against:
Clarity of structure.
Clarity of application of methodology (analysis of secondary qualitative data).
Integration of all types of data and literature.
Robustness of research
