Needs to include description about being a carrier for sickle cell disease vs actually expressing symptoms for it.

General outline of the paper needs to be as follows:
Introduction, including what sickle cell disease is, who (what ethnic groups, ages) it tends to affect, and what symptoms are generally seen, such as anemia, strokes, leg ulcers, etc.

Body of paper needs to discuss:
- causes of sickle cell and (specific, detailed biochemical explanation, genetics involved, etc.)
- structure and properties of sickle cell hemoglobin (especially Hemoglobin S) , and how it relates to the the symptoms typically seen
-generally discuss what sorts of procedures are performed for diagnosis
- discuss treatment options for those with sickle cell and what sorts of prognosis people with disease can expect
Followed by conclusion

The emphasis of the paper should be on the biochemical basis of the sickle cell disease and how that relates to biomedical implications. This needs to be detailed! Which specific amino acid changes in hemoglobin cause the changes in structure, what the structure of the sickle cell hemoglobin looks like, need to be included.

INTRODUCTION TO COVER:
1)Sickle cell disease history (from the story of firt discovery in dental student & peculier cell

2)Pathophysiologicaly, SCD is a hemoglobin structure disorder in
which glutamic acid at the sixth residence of the ? chain of hemoglobin
is substituted by valine, resulting in the formation of a poorly soluble
hemoglobin tetramer (?2/?2 S)2. Homozygote (SS) will show clinical
symptoms and heterozygote (AS) or traits are usually asymptomatic.

3) clinical picture
mechanism of sickling & how it causes pain, strok acute chest syndrome

4)SCD complications
The hallmarks of SCD are anemia and vasculopathy. The major
sources of morbidity and mortality in SCD are acute painful syndromes,
severe anemia, infections, acute chest syndrome and organ failure.

5)SCD diagnosis by breif discription of test and finding CBC, blood film, sickling, Hb electrophhoresis, HBLC, DNA analysis, Hb F testing

6)Surgical procedures required IN SCD. SCD types of operations required (Total hip replacement, adenotonsellectomy, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, Lap splenectomy,

7)role of Preoperative blood transfusions: are frequently given to prevent perioperative complications.
There is no consensus, however. on the best regimen for transfusion for

of the complications of SCD. Nevertheless, blood transfusions, even when
correctly used, are not without complications3.

Role of HU iSCD pain management and any postoperative effect in SCD
Role of Heparin in SCD management and post op prohpylaxes

Method and material (from abstract given and I will send you a summary (retrospective survey, of 75 patients, we went through medical records and gother information about age, sex, type of operation, type of transfusion, record all pre operative fever, transfuion, vasoocclusive crises, Acute chest syndrom, smoking and the look for the out come including post operative VOC, ACS, fever, lenghth of hospital stay)
