Essay Instructions: Researched and documented argument:

An essay taking up one position about: The U.S. Government should not pay or owe financial reparations to the descendants of African slaves for the impact of slavery.


I need an essay written with the combine efforts of three classic styles of essay writing. This essay must consist of these three styles by reflecting the Classical Model, the Toulmin Model, and the Rogerian model. About 75 percent is based in the classical style. The rest is split up. I have already worked out a 9 page essay using the Classical and Toulmin models, and I am trying to get an idea of how the Rogerian Model can incorporate into this essay. If you can give me some ideas it would help by doing a three-page essay touching in all these three categories combined. My main concern is seeing how the essay could be written mostly in the Rogerian Model so that I may get a better perspective.

Some important notes: Prefer Active verbs, avoid use of 2nd person pronouns, minimize use of 1st person pronouns.

Consider the case in Love?s Executioner entitled, If Rape Were Legal. Drawing on the concepts (in detail) in these four systems of psychotherapy:
1. Freudian PsychoDynamic
2. Rogerian Person-Centered
3. Elis? REBT
4. Adlerian

- Comment/ Quote/ Cite on specific interactions in the text which illustrate the therapeutic principles of these four systems of psychotherapy.

Yalom holds an existential perspective.
Carlos was sent to Yalom by an oncologist.
At first, generally speaking, Carlos is very dislikable.
He is inappropriate and brutalizes the rapped women in the group therapy.
Seeks sexual gratification.
Has no feelings for anybody.
Carlos believes that the women that got rapped aren?t as bad as his condition.
Issue #1: Counter transference = Carlos is unpalatable and close to unlikable.
Issue #2: You want to help him but he?s bound to die? Psychotherapists like to believe (just like any doctor) that they help people forever after.
Carlos is very smart but isolated from all relationships.
His view of women is really stark.
To Carlos, women exist for him only for sexuality.
Freud thought that older people are less attractive to change.
No humanity.
Masochistic.
Misogynistic
Pornography.
No need for human contact.
Emphasizes on sexuality, the best he could.
Positive note: Carlos thinks of about Yalom and treats him as an equal.
Yalom gets through to Carlos kind of by doing role reversal ? Elis (REBT) would do role reversal.

Carlos believes in reincarnation.
Carlos goes to church to meet women.

• Explain how this theoretical orientation suggests a means to assist people in overcoming their sense of low self-esteem.

A significant and enduring aspect of Freud’s theory is defense mechanisms. For this discussion:
• Explain how defense mechanisms relate to anxiety.
• Select one primitive and immature defense mechanism and one mature defense mechanism.
