Essay Instructions: The report must by a typed (8-pages, double spaced) and is titled "The Right to Bear Arms. It should include a cover page. I prefer the document to be Word format.

The report needs to include the issues involving 5 chapters in the class textbook and how it relates to these 5 chapters. I have photo copied the 5 chapters and will email it to be included for the report. I have indicated (arrowed) where it mentions "guns", "Second Amendment" and "NRA", etc.

The report should also include my opinion that I do believe we do have a right to bear arms. It should also include any additional research and reference where I found it. Any additional support such as: Supreme Court, Presidential support or the impacts.

Thesis statement: Even though the job of photojournalists is to capture moments on film and tell a story, if they witness a crime in progress, they should intervene because the safety of the victims should always outweigh the value of the photographs.

This article discusses whether or not journalists should intervene when a subject is at risk. Most journalists say they should never become involved with a story, that they should always be "flies on the wall." Paterno's article discusses whether or not this is right by discussing, "Orphans of Addiction," written by two Los Angeles Times photojournalists who spent three months living with drug addicts and their children. They witnessed children being beaten, and living in unsafe conditions: drugs, broken glass on the floor, flea infestations. Neither journalist reported any of this to the police, who only came to know of the events by reading the article. At that point, months after the abuse was witnessed, the parents were arrested and the children were placed into protective custody. The journalists' goal was to show their readers the horrifying conditions children in these homes endured because they felt most Americans did not realize this even existed. I will use evidence from this article to argue that the children should have been saved first, and their safety far outweighs any benefit to society in general that the story could have produced.
