Based on these eight texts and on your own observations and experience, write an essay in which you discuss your current view of LRH, its validity, and its importance. Refer to each of your sources in your discussion, remembering to use quotation marks when using an author's words, and parenthetically citing each source from which you borrow ideas or information.

According to the linguistic relativity hypothesis language influences thought.

Where do you stand on this debate? What aspects of “thought” are we dealing with? How do researchers define “language” in these type of studies?

Can you think of instances where thought influences language?

Essay Instructions: The course is an introductory undergraduate-level astronomy course for non-science majors.

In this class so far we have primarily studied the history of astronomy (Galileo, Kepler, Copernicus, development of telescopes and how they work, etc.)

As for the paper, we weren't really given any specific guidelines. We were allowed to select any topic so I have chosen black holes as this is something that has always been interesting to me.

For this paper I would like it to be a general overview of black holes. The history of the theories of black holes and any related discoveries or advances in the study of black holes; discussion of evidence of their existence; relation of this to the general theory of relativity, etc. Any sort of mathematical equations can be left out as this is a course for non-science majors.
