Biographical Sketch
This assignment is to write a biographical sketch of a woman of the Progressive Era. Your 4-5 page paper should include a brief biography of the subject with a substantial discussion of the significance of the person to this period in American history.
a. Who was this woman in American history?
b. Who was this woman in the Progressive Era?
c. What was the impact of the woman to this time in American history; why should she be remembered?
d. Evaluate the historical significance of this person and her contributions
e. What was your knowledge of this person from your past study of American history?
Some women you might consider for your paper, but not an exhaustive list, are: Ida Tarbell, Carry Nation, Carrie Chapman Catt, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Jeannette Rankin, Ida B. Wells. Do your own research and find a woman that may not be as well known. The woman needs to have lived and made her impact during this period. Do not select a person who was born or died during this time but did not contribute her life’s work and what she is remembered for during the Progressive Era.
