There have been six Prime Ministers in Japan in the last five years. How is the Prime Minister selected? Why have the holders of the post been changed so often? Discuss Japan's political parties. There are several political parties represented in the Diet. Use current (2012) information as well as past records. The next election will be held December 16, 2012.

Essay Instructions: Is the Canadian Prime Minister too Powerful?
I would like to argue that the prime minister is too powerful.

1) Include a thesis statement and a clear line of argument
2) Paraphrase directly and quote a minimum of 7 referenced sources. At least 3 of the sources must be peer reviewed.

1.Describe the international political environment of the 1980s ? the ?stage? on which these three individuals were to play a critical role.

This is similar to an abstract in an academic article, but should be written so as to clearly and concisely indicate to a busy policy-maker what the problem is that is being addressed, why the current policy needs to change, and what your recommendations are. Whilst this should be placed at the front, it makes sense to write it after you have written the rest of the report.

•Background, context and importance of the problem or issue

•A presentation and evaluation of relevant evidence in relation to the problem or issue

•A consideration of relevant policy options and evaluation of these

•Clear recommendations for policy action, as specified in your chosen option, and based on the evidence presented

•A full list of references cited

Your report must base its policy recommendations on a clear and rigorous evaluation of the evidence relating to your chosen issue, and you must acknowledge all sources using the Harvard system.
