Propose an explanation of how several well-known land formations on Earth were created.

Look at the images and topographic close-ups of each of these three land formations.

The Aleutian Islands, Alaska

The Rift Valley, Africa

The Alps, Europe

For each formation write at least 1 page or so

1. describe the mechanism that you believe created that landscape feature
2. identify a second landscape feature on Earth that you believe may have come into existence in a similar way.

In writing the explanations, use the knowledge of the locations and types of plate boundaries to support the ideas.

Essay Instructions: The professor''s basic requirements for the paper are as follows:

- Double spaced, 12 point font, with 10 pages of text.

- Must include an introduction, body, and a conclusion.

- One inch, standard margins.

- Must use a minimum of 15 sources.

- Must be written in MLA format.

- Must also include endnotes for citations.

- Must include bibliography page(s).

- Must have a minimum of 35 citations from the sources.
(these citations must include direct quotes, paraphrases, and
statistics). (I would prefer mostly quotes and paraphrases).
These citations should tie in to what the paper is about.

- Must aim for even distribution of citations from each source.
(35 citations/15 sources) = roughly 3 quotes from each source.

- Sources may be books, periodicals, magazines (none from
the Internet).
