If we continue on the same path, what is and will continue to be, America’s psychological health/

What needs to take place to get America out of the current condition she is in, to a more stable condition?

If we made changes in these areas of spirituality, health, education, and finances what would those changes look like?

As a result of those changes how will that effect America’s overall psychological health?

This paper is not about Romney/Obama. This is about digging deep to see where America is and the future of America. And what might happen to our individual as well as the cultures psychological health, if we don’t take a serious look at the path we are on as a country. And what will be the cost to America.

Are you and/or family better off now than you were 4 years ago? (eg. If so how, are you getting financial assistance now or more than you were before? Remember this isn’t necessary better, maybe it is for you personally but at what cost to the overall country).

What is the difference between selfishness and selflessness?

What is morality? What is the condition of America’s morality? Is this effecting America’s overall psyche? If so how?

How does education help or hurt a culture? Can it only help? Should Government be the sole entity responsible for the education of its country’s youth? What are the disadvantages and advantages to letting government be the sole entity responsible for education?

Healthcare? Should everyone have it, even those that opt not to carry because they don’t want it(not because they can’t afford it) honestly will quality of healthcare go up or down if we make it mandatory for everyone to have or pay a price(penalty)?

What government programs are doing so well that we could use them as a model on what to do or are they more used as models of what not to do?

What is the financial burden on us and future generations for programs that just use money yet don’t generate money?

Can business survive if they kept spending money and not generate money?

Is the right practice for a parent to continue to dish out money to their young adults life without any expectations of
meeting responsibilities or obligations? Are there negative outcomes to this behavior? to one or the other? Or to both?

Are we currently an environment that fosters oppression or liberty(freedom)?

How much should Government be involved in the personal life of the people?

Will this have positive or negative outcome on the cultures psychological health?

Remember to think beyond the superficial question or outcome: for example:

More gun laws only results in making a nation at large more vulnerable, even though first glance it seems a good idea making it tougher for people to get their hands on weapons etc.

Food for thought(locks on your doors are a deterrent for an honest person not to enter your house, if a burglar wants to get into your house bad enough a lock on the door is not going to be much of a deterrent.)

Essay Instructions: Research indicates that around seventy-five percent of people will live in cities by 2050. As our global population approaches upwards of 10 billion, urban planners, municipal managers, ecologists, health professionals and ordinary citizens are becoming increasingly alarmed by a growing list of urban environmental problems. These problems include rising pollution, decreasing biodiversity, deteriorating mental and physical health, decreasing food and water supplies and declining greenspaces.
Many cities are now actively working to protect their greenspaces. Greenspaces such as parks, nature reserves, and community gardens provide a range of benefits upon both users and non-users. These benefits include: food, flood control, cooling of urban temperatures, pollution control, suppression of dust and noise, shelter for wildlife, promotion of active lifestyles and less stress and anxiety.

Go to the following website (http://parkscore.tpl.org/rankings.php) that ranks 100 major US cities on their current ability to meet the need for parks. Find the major city listed that is closest to where you live.
How does this city rank? What does the ranking mean?

What percentage of your city is considered Park Land?
Look at the historic data (also found on the left of the website) for your city over the last 3 to 4 years- has it increased or decreased its percentage of park lands? Compare this to the national median data percentages located at the bottom of the historical data chart.
