There are a number of provisions in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) that have short- and long-term cost implications for employers. The extent of these implications and cooresponding regulations will be played-out through 2017. However, there are several areas of immediate attention that employers must address such as:
1) health plan design and pricing changes resulting form insurance reform, the essential health benefit package, and other related new provisions;
2) complance, tax concerns, changes in employee health benefit administration systems, and employee awareness requirements;
3) workforce planning implications of new eligbility and coverage provisions;
4) how and to what extent do the "grandfather" provisions apply; and,
5) provisions that may change the way employers think about retiree medical coverage.

The objective of this work is to identify the impact of these above provisions of the PPACA. You may select a company or employer of interest relative to what impact these above provisions will have on their respective operations.
