Essay Instructions: So that there is no confusion, I have attached three documents with these instructions. I have attached documents in the past that have been overlooked and not used. Please use the documents that are attached for writing this essay.
To complete this project, revise the submissions from Weeks 2?5, which are attached with these instructions, in light of the instructor's comments and suggestions, and organize the revised sections so that they form a cohesive analysis of the current event of world overpopulation, which was selected in Week 1.
The project submission should reflect an understanding of the weekly themes listed and their relationship to the chosen topic of world overpopulation. It should also include an introductory paragraph that explains the social/political relevance of your chosen issue and states your view on the issue, which is that the world is becoming overpopulated, as well as a conclusion. This introductory paragraph should include an account of at least one social justice philosophy . In addition, each section should include the following:
1.A thesis that clearly states your view on the issue and how philosophy is being used to analyze the issue. Analyze the relationship of the current event to philosophy.
2.Facts, information, and perspectives from the news articles, which are attached with these instructions, that support your argument.
3.Facts, information, and arguments that challenge your perspective. Explain why they are ultimately unpersuasive.
4.Citations to the two news articles you chose in Week 1, which are attached with these instructions, and the text, Chaffee. J, (2009), The Philosophers' Way, correctly formatted in APA style.
The essay should include revised versions of each of the following, which are attached with these instructions:
Week 1: Introduction to the final project: Identify your topic, which is world overpopulation, Locate two news articles, which are attached with these instructions.
Week 2: Analyze the philosophical significance of the contemporary social issue using Socratic philosophy.
Week 3: Analyze the philosophical significance of the contempory social issue from the prespective of questions about identity and freedom.
Week 4: Analyze the philosophical significance of the contemporary social issue from the prespective of questions about reality.
Week 5: Analyze the philosophical significance of the contemporary social issue from the perspective of questions about ethics.
Week 6: Final project: Revise the submissions from Weeks 2?5 in light of the facilitator's comments and suggestions, and organize the revised sections so that they form a cohesive analysis. Collate all of the analysis papers written into one final document that touches on all of the five subjects discussed in the lectures. The paper must be written with vocabulary appropriate to the subject, correct spelling, and grammar, and it must show insights for all the topics as they relate to the current events previously analyzed. Provide citations for the sources used.
Grading Criteria:
1. Included an introductory paragraph with thesis that clearly states your view on the issue, which is that the world is becoming overpopulated, and how philosophy is being used to analyze the issue. 10 points
Explained at least one social justice philosophy. 10 points
Clearly stated the view on the issue of world overpopulation and cited facts, reasons, and information from the two news articles, which are attached with these instructions, to support this view. 20 points
Addressed counter-arguments. 15 points
Explained relevant philosophical concepts and ideas and how they apply to the contemporary issue. 20 points
Used correct spelling, grammar, concise language, and correct APA citation format. 5 points
Total 80 points = an A
