Essay Instructions: CASE: As a nurse manager of a 25-bed medical-surgical unit, you have 24-hour responsibility with a staff of 26. You have become aware that one of your senior nurse clinicians is stealing cash and other miscellaneous objects from patients and staff members. This senior nurse is well liked and highly regarded by patients and peers alike. She is often the first to support you when things get rough and conflict arises. Her clinical expertise and judgment are the best among your team. You feel morally stressed by this situation. You feel guilty and upset because you know what she is doing is wrong but feel constrained because you think no one will believe you.

Use the Ethical Decision- Making Algorithm on page 60 of the text to examine the situation, focusing on the nursing perspective.
An example of a clinical application of the Algorithm is on p. 62-63 of the text. The references at the end of Chapter 4 (p. 70-71) and literature obtained through searching the AU Library, online, should be used to support your statements in the assignment.
The assignment is to be submitted to your tutor in a formal written paper of 3-4 pages.
