Title: Analysis of Nuclear Energy

Total Pages: 8 Words: 2543 References: 4 Citation Style: MLA Document Type: Research Paper

Essay Instructions: a research paper from an undergrad-level ENGLISH COMPOSITION class.
Please write like an undeclared student rather than a nuclear engineer.

General Topic: The downside of nuclear energy/ why we shouldn't build more nuclear power plants.
Number of source: 4 or more (it's just a Writing class so there's no need to be professional) MLA and work cited Plz.
Preferences of my instructor: he likes direct quotations and straightforward writing style. Besides, he prefers a so-called counterargument paragraph; namely present a naive argument from the opposite side and reject it.

My ideas (i think it might be helpful, but you dont need to follow it)
--------
Whether we should depend on nuclear power? I think we shouldn't.
1. Economics. Although some people say that nuclear power plant is more cost efficient in terms of cost per kw, researchers suggest that the cost of securing, maintaining, and disposing of nuclear power plant is relatively high.
Moreover, if nuclear power plant is really cost efficient, the invisible hand of market will push the trend; however, nuclear power only contribute to less than 10% of global electricity.

2. Safety.
2.1 Political, the by-product of nuclear power plant can be made into nuclear bombs.
2.2 Nuclear plants can become the taget of terrorist, or armies.

3. Environment. We still cannot handle the nuclear waste perfectly. Nuclear power plants requires large areas of land; its construction can influence local animals. The minning of nuclear resources also lead to potential environmental harzards.

4. Better alternatives. Solar power and biofuel energy are renewable and clean. Besides, they don't have the problems listed above.
