Essay Instructions: The paper is an extended essay for the IB Program in my school. An extended essay is sort of like a research paper meets an essay but very long. There is a rulebook which I will upload later on. Please read it carefully.

The research question is this:

The novel's epigraph is taken from Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey, in which a naïve young woman, caught up in fantasies from the Gothic fiction she loves to read, imagines that her host in an English country house is a villain. In Austen's novel Catherine Norland's mistakes are comical and have no serious outcome, while in Atonement, Briony's fantasies have tragic effects upon those around her. What is McEwan implying about the power of the imagination, and its potential for harm when unleashed into the social world? Compare and contrast both novels, especially in terms of consequences.

Essay Instructions: Write an 8-9 page typewritten, double-spaced research paper. (Please paginate!) Your paper must discuss Radcliffe?s The Italian and Austen?s Northanger Abbey, and make substantive reference to the work of at least one of the following writers: Coleridge, Keats, Burke.

The guideline is attached to this order. Please mainly focus on the two major novels Radcliffe?s The Italian and Austen?s Northanger Abbey. Also please consult at least three scholarly sources.
The Burke's article and the poems by Coleridge and Keats are listed in the guideline. Also, the studyguide of Radcliffe?s The Italian and Austen?s Northanger Abbey are also attached to this order.
Please do not wholly depend on the studyguide, but also make substantive reference to the novels themselves. Focus only on one specific topic chosen from the possible topics under Academic expository paper. Ideally is to discuss Burke's discussion of sublime on the two major novels.

Essay Instructions: TITLE: Discuss the relationship between feminist principles and the gothic in the fiction of Mary Wollstonecraft and Jane Austen.

REQUIREMENTS: The paper must fully answer the question and give a detailed and relevant response with no deviation from the topic. The paper must concentrate its discussion of the relationship between feminist principles and the gothic in Mary Wollstoncraft's text "Maria, or The Wrongs of Woman" and Austen's text "Northanger Abbey". The essay must identify the main characteristics and feminist perspectives presented through the major characters. Austen is renowned for her capacity to take individuals who are blocked into their social roles and redefine them through the actions of the characters and this elements should be integrated into the essay.
Also, the paper must present a comparative view of the central female characters in these two texts and the way they challenged their social and gender roles. The fiction of Wollstonecraft should be examined first in the essay as Austen can be thought of as replying to Wollstonecraft. Gothic fiction it seems can also depict the strength and assertiveness of women who refused to be submissive to patriarchal expectations of their roles and sexuality, this element should be examined aswell. Overall, the essay must fully discuss with thoughtful examination/analysis the relationship between feminist principles and the gothic in the fiction of these two writers. Where necessary, close attention to the text should qualify any observations made.
