Over the course of the project, I took the responsibility for ensuring that all of the bureaucracy and paperwork regarding the needed permits for the addition's plumbing, electric work, and building materials remained in order. I became more fluent in the legal language as well as the technical aspects of a major construction effort. After the addition was built, I had to ensure that the work passed its inspection within the time of the contract -- and check for the company's own peace of mind that the work was sound from the bottom of its foundation to the top of its rafters.
