Family

I grew up in China, the oldest of two daughters. My family unit, my gender, and my culture all had strong impacts on the way I have lived my life and on the way I live my life now. Who I am now is a direct reflection of my childhood and family of origin. Both my parents were senior electrical engineers. They are strong and hardworking people with positive attitudes. Our household was democratic in its structure. The children were treated with dignity and respect, and in return we gave a lot of respect to our parents. My mom and dad motivated and encouraged both my sister and me. As a result of the mutual love and respect in the household, my childhood was a happy one.
