Essay Instructions: As we've seen, monarchy was the dominant form of government throughout the Middle Ages. But it didn't develop in a vacuum; medieval monarchy had its roots in ancient Germanic practices. Please describe these practices and then choose ONE of the three national monarchies of the era (England, France, Holy Roman Empire) and describe how that particular monarchy evolved from the Early Middles Ages (c. 500s) to the 14th century.

In a well-organized essay, explain how the early modern absolute monarchy, the baroque
style, and the scientific revolution were responses to the turmoil of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.

V. Submit your essay in typewritten form.
A. Have margins of one inch on all sides.
B. Double-space the lines.
C. Make sure your essay is no shorter than six and a half pages and no longer than eight
and half pages in length.
D. Use no font larger than 12-point.
VI. Above all else, be concise
