The trial is used to demonstrate how an unintelligent community over reacts resulting in an innocent man being put to death over the bad moral of a community. Racism in Maycomb was the norm. Any attempt to deviate from that way of thinking was shunned, and you as well as branded on your forehead `nigger-lover'.
