Essay Instructions: Machiavelli wants princes, as well as “anyone who understands” The Prince, to learn how to be evil because doing evil can presumably bring about good. Explain how this understanding of virtù differs from Aristotle’s understanding of practical wisdom, whereby doing good a good deed includes doing it well. How precisely does Machiavelli think evil produces good? How does he explain that it is in the performance of an evil deed (or evil deeds), and not good fortune, that brings about good? How, in performing an evil deed (or deeds), can you avoid simply producing misery? In explaining Machiavelli’s logic of virtù, reflect upon three examples of evil deeds that Machiavelli describes in The Prince. At least one of the examples you use must be drawn from chapter eight.

The chapter I'm referring too comes from "Prince, Dedicatory letter, Chaps 1-14 specifically chapter 8 for the essay

Essay Instructions: Machiavelli was the author of both the Discourses and The Prince. The first texthas bee labled as "republican" while the second has been called "monarchical". Based upon a close reading of both texts, do you find that the political advice and goals of the respective texts can be reconciled? In responding to this questions consider the following: On which counts does his advice differ? Which political ends can both republics and pricipalities attain? Which ends can only be reached by one, and why? Can the reflections of The Prince be justified on any of the terms provided within the Discourses?

Plese employ parenthetical notes throughout the essay.
For the bibliography and notes the texts should be from: "The Portable Machiavelli" Edited and translated by Peter Bondanella and Mark Musa;Viking Penguin Inc.,1979

Essay Instructions: Machiavelli and Plato. “The Goal of Leadership”:

This essay is a demonstration on how two minds have worked on an idea, and or problem. Take these two people. THEN, evaluate what is under consideration: part of an idea in political, social, economic, religion, cultural, and focus even more clearly on the origins, substance, functions, or consequences as argued by the two people. For example, Al and Charlie are convinced that breakfast is good for you (its consequence). But Al says it is good for the body, Charlie says it does wonders really for the soul. Just give the evidence that each one presents, and then add it all up: accuracy, sameness, completeness. Let the evidence talk through this amplification.

Analytical Levels: Origins, Substance, Functions, Consequence.
Explanatory Sequence: Statement, Evidence, Amplification.
Comparative Insights: Context, Argument, Evidence, Audience.

* Maximum of 10 quotes from each document
* I have chosen ‘2’ sources only because I assumed you would need two different books for research on Machiavelli and Plato. If you only need one, than that’s fine.

Finally, I do not mean to insult you with this quote but it was given to me by my institute so I decided to add it to the specifications:
“Please remember that this is an essay, not a book report or research paper. This means that you are not giving me sentence-lists or sentence-salads containing, essentially, collections of statements (he said this, he said that) or observations by you (I feel this or that about this or that). Instead you are doing analysis, presenting a case.”

Thank-you for your efforts.

Essay Instructions: Examine Machiavelli's characterization of Moses as a political leader in the chapter six of The Prince, and compare it to more traditional readings of the Hebrew Bible. What are the implications of Machiavelli's conclusion that "all armed prophets are victorious, and disarmed ones are crushed" (p. 20). Given his cynical and anti-religious stance, how would Machiavelli interpret the political subtext of the Exodus? Could Moses be said to have possessed virtue and why?

Absolutely no summarizing! I can not stress that enough! Have a clearly defined thesis and a carefully organized essay that proves your argument, with concise quotations from the literature (don't overuse large block quotations).

Only use quotes from the following:

Machiavelli, The Prince (Hackett),
The Holy Bible (Revised Standard Edition)
