Essay Instructions: "The Jilting of Granny Weatherall" (story)/ The Jilting of Granny Weatherall (film)

The focus of this paper should be on the film version and the success or failure of the adaptation of the original short story. The obvious things to look for include fidelity of the script to the original story, acting, setting and photography, and direction, but I would also ask you to consider, in light of other stories we have read, how difficult "The Jilting of Granny Weatherall" (story) was to adapt to film. Some stories would seem to be relatively easy to film; others would not. I'm asking you to think about what, in particular, makes "The Jilting of Granny Weatherall" (story) difficult and what strategies The Jilting of Granny Weatherall (film) uses to overcome these difficulties.
