Essay Instructions: I need a 7 page long paper describing the Intertestamental Period, beginning with the period of Alexander the Great and continuing through the reign of Herod's sons. Be sure to address how various events, individuals, and groups impacted the Jews and land of Palestine leading up to and during the time of Christ.  In addition, pick one significant event, person, or group (e.g., the Hasmoneans, Maccabees, Pharisees, or Antiochus Epiphanes) and highlight in more detail how this particular event, person, or group affected the first century world of the New Testament.  For example, you may want to go into more detail concerning Herod's rule of Palestine, and how that rule encouraged the rise of some religious or political groups that Jesus encountered.  Be sure to keep this expanded material in the proper chronology of the period.  The paper should be double-spaced, use a 10 or 12 point font, and contain one inch margins.  This paper should follow the basic style guidelines.  I need to have at least 7 scholarly sources.
