Essay Instructions: The BODY of the paper is to be 5-7 pages.

Topics for paper include the following crime categories: environmental crimes, consumer fraud, drug crimes or human trafficking. Choose one topic to research.

The paper will include BOTH:

A. a background profile on your chosen crime category from the list above (statistics about the crime, who commits this crime? who are the victims of this crime? where does this crime occur most often?)

AND

B. your analysis of your chosen crime category using one of the theories discussed in chapters 3, 6 or 7. Select the theory that you believe best explains the criminal behavior in the crime category you've selected and support your conclusion. The analysis section should comprise at least 2 pages of the paper.



Rules:

A. For your sources, please use journal articles from appropriate scholarly journals (Justice Quarterly, Crime and Delinquency, Criminology, etc.) and credible research sites (National Institute of Justice, Bureau of Justice Statistics, etc.). Do not use Wikipedia, Answer.com, etc. or your textbook as sources in scholarly research!

B. Please use scholarly sources to support your choice of theory when completing Part B of the assignment.
