Your final term project is to write a critical analysis of a historical work. In preparation for that, you will develop an annotated bibliography of at least five books on the topic of your interest (The women's rights movement in American history
), from which you will choose the book you will analyze.
Requirements for selected books. Choose books that deal with the same general topic (The women's rights movement in America) so that you can compare how the authors address the area. The books should be written by trained historians, although their disciplines may vary to include such areas as American studies, other area studies, women's studies, etc. If you wish to include books by authors written before history
was a professional or academic field, such as George Bancroft's History
of the United States
, that is acceptable. If you're leaning in that direction, or if you have questions about the books you are selecting, It would be a good idea to send me a list of titles and authors you are considering early in the process of doing this assignment
