Essay Instructions: History of realizing that meteors are real. "Impossible rocks that fell from the sky"
The situation was that in the late 1700?s and early 1800?s, if I recall the timing correctly, scientists refused to believe that ?rocks fall from the sky.? That is, they denied that meteorites have fallen from the sky. The people who saw them fall and recovered their sometimes quite hot remains were always ignorant farmers and their testimony was easily dismissed. Several scientists eventually began to take the claims seriously. Explain, how and why it was so hard to believe that meteors were real, and how eventually Scientists came to believe that the impossible rocks that fell from the sky were actually meteors, and that the ignorant farmers had really saw meteors.
