There also seemed to be many self-appointed mindguards since even the Germans who collected the intelligence from Curveball were shocked when this intelligence was used as a pretext for war. With these factors, as well as many others, it seems the invasion of Iraq could serve as a classical modern example of the groupthink phenomenon.
