Essay Instructions: This paper is a senior thesis that deals with the reasons why Great Britain failed to use its navy to its full effectivness in World War I against Germany. My thesis is that Britain did not use the Royal Navy to its full abilities because if they suffered a defeat or even a costly victory at sea, like the kind they were dealing with on the Western Front would have seriously hampered the war effort, and ruined the morale of its citizens. The paper needs to include information from at least six different primary sources, and information from at least 20 different secondary sources. The paper should have at least 50 footnotes, 20 of which should be primary sources, and the remaining 30 from secondary sources. I will also need a complete bibliography attached to the paper, as well, detailing all sources that were used.
