Title: Good Citizen Essay

Total Pages: 4 Words: 1272 Bibliography: 0 Citation Style: APA Document Type: Research Paper

Essay Instructions: The goal of social studies education is to prepare good citizens. But who is a good citizen? What are the basic characteristics of a good citizen? How do we know if a person is a good citizen or not? Why is it important to be a good citizen? Although different people will answer these questions differently, it is vital to ask these questions and find answers for them. Your perspective and understanding of good citizenship may be different from others. And it is quite acceptable because your experiences may be different from the experiences of others and therefore the way you view the world may also be different.
It is the primary responsibility of a social studies teacher to focus on the development of certain essential skills and attributes that our students need to learn as good citizens. The essay you write will be based on two separate interviews you hold with your two colleagues in the classroom and compare their views on good citizenship. Before you begin the interview, you will prepare a set of four or five questions regarding citizenship and living in a democracy. After comparing their views you will make a personal reflection and tell us whether you agree or disagree with their views and what you think good citizenship means to you. Write as clearly as possible using the APA style.

HERE ARE EXAMPLES OF SOME INTERVIEWERS ANSWERS TO THESE QUESTIONS:

These are the two interviewer’s answers
Anyone that gives back to the community and helps people, such as a volunteer fire fighter makes a good citizen.

The basic characteristics of a good citizen they know right from wrong. They follow the rules, do not harm or in danger anyone.

The community recognizes them. People know the goodness you bring to the community. If you get arrested or break rules and get charged with disobeying the law that is not a good citizen.

It is important to be a good citizen because you feel personal gratification of helping someone.

Title: Aristotle's Politics

Total Pages: 5 Words: 1638 Sources: 1 Citation Style: APA Document Type: Essay

Essay Instructions: Topic for reaction paper:
In Book III of the Politics, Aristotle gives a definition of citizenship and distinguishes the good man from the good citizen. What is the distinction? How does Aristotle argue for this? What distinguishes the good man from the good citizen? How might Plato respond to Aristotle’s claim that all citizens take part in ruling?
Papers must have a clearly stated thesis in the beginning. The thesis should clearly articulate the position for which you will argue and how you will do so.
You should write the paper under the assumption that the reader has no prior knowledge of philosophical texts, terminology, or argument. The body of the paper must cite textual evidence to support the thesis. Parenthetically cite the text and page number: (Politics, 13). In the conclusion, be sure to summarize the position for which you have just argued. Use only the source I provide.

There are faxes for this order.
