In the film “The Godfather” (1972) portrays the life of Michael Corleone’s transformation from being apart of the Corleone family to becoming the leader of the Mafia family.


I. Description of Michael’s character
A. youngest son
B. Recently returned for his military service in WWII
1. The only one in his family to have a college education.
2. He wants nothing to do with the family business.


II. Michaels starts to get involved with the family business
A. Michael rushes to the hospital to find that his father has been shot five times
B. A police officer attacks Michael and is trying to protect his father
1. The police offer, McClusky, who works for Sollozzo, has been trying to take down Vito, Michaels father, over an assassination on Luca.
2. Tom Hagen, Michael’s older brother, arrives with a group of guys to protect him and their father.
C. Michael attends to a family meeting
1. Michael makes the decision that the best solution to the problem is to kill McCluskey and Sollozzo.
2. Michael dedicates himself to kill McClusky and Sollozzo to avenge his father.


III. After Michael assassinates McClusky ans Sollozzo.
A. Michael leaves the United States and goes to Sicily so that the family can clear him of all the charges.
1. Micheal meets Apollonia and they get married
2. She is gunned down by a group of guys trying to assassinate Michael.
B. When Michael’s returning back from Sicily.
1. Don arranges a meeting with all the head Mafia members.
2. They discuss that they need to get along and that his son is returning him from Sicily



IV. Michaels and Dons plot
A. Michael and Don are planning to kill the person in command of every Mafia family.
B. Michael tells the entire family to move to Nevada before things get ugly
C. While the family is preparing to move Vito tells Michael that one of the family members will betray him.
1. Vito dies in his tomato garden with his grandchild
2. At the funeral Michael learns that Tessio and Carlo are the ones betraying him.


V. Michaels seizes power
A. During the baptism service Michael orders his men to kill the leaders of every Mafia family.
B. Michael has Tessio and Carlo killed.
1. Michael’s new wife, Kay, asks if he killed Carlo, and he swears that he didn’t
2. After all the assassinations Michaels turns into the new person in charge of the family
